Romanian interim health minister says NRRP hospitals to be finished by August
Interim Minister of Health and Development Cseke Attila announced that five hospitals funded through Romania's National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) will be completed by the end of August, with two additional hospitals already in the reception phase. He noted that the Constanța County Emergency Hospital, part of the eight NRRP‑financed hospital projects, will not be finished by the NRRP deadline; a government decision extends its financing to February‑March next year via the Health Operational Program, with completion expected in spring.
The minister explained that the other five hospitals required recent government approvals of technical‑economic indicators and supplemental state‑budget funding, allowing payments to contractors to be brought up to date. He added that the "Saint Anne" program continues to build nurseries, with the 82nd facility inaugurated in Zlatna, bringing the total to nearly 5,000 nursery places nationwide.
Overall, the ministries assert that all NRRP targets for hospital construction and nursery development will be met, with the remaining projects slated for completion shortly after the August deadline.
