Romanian Jazz Festivals Draw Tens of Thousands of Attendees
The International Garăna Jazz Festival marked its 30th edition in Poiana Lupului, drawing thousands of spectators from Romania and abroad. The outdoor event, praised as Central and Eastern Europe's premier jazz gathering, hosted renowned artists such as Jan Garbarek, Stanley Clarke, Mike Stern, and many Grammy‑winning musicians.
In Timișoara, the five‑day JAZZx 2026 festival transformed the city centre, recording an average of about 22,300 visits per evening. The peak attendance of roughly 9,000 people occurred during Asaf Avidan’s concert. The programme featured Grammy winner Samara Joy, the debut of Free Nationals in Romania, and performances by Joe Armon‑Jones, Moses Yoofee Trio and emerging Romanian talent, underscoring the festival’s role as a major cultural project that attracts a young, diverse audience.
