Romanian judokas win eight medals at European University Championships

Romanian judokas achieved significant success at the European Universities Combat Sports Championships held in Tirana, Albania, from September 12–17, 2026. The national delegation secured a total of eight medals, including five gold, one silver, and two bronze.

In the women's competition, four gold medals were earned by Lucia Catana (-52 kg), Vanessa Tolea (-57 kg), Orsolya Lajos (-63 kg), and Roxana Vișa (+78 kg). Antonio Nițu secured a silver medal.

In the men's division, Alexandru Sibișan won the European university title in the -100 kg category after an undefeated run, defeating Peter Kenderesi in the final. Darius Dobre earned a bronze medal in the +100 kg category, while Adrian Șulcă also secured a bronze medal.
