Romanian MEPs re-elected to leadership roles in European Parliament groups

Two Romanian Members of the European Parliament have been re-elected to vice-presidential positions within their respective political groups.

Siegfried Mureșan (PPE/PNL) has been re-elected as a vice-president of the European People's Party (PPE) group, the largest political group in the European Parliament. Mureșan received 152 votes, the second-highest result among the ten elected vice-presidents. He noted that his role has previously helped secure PNRR pre-financing and support for Romanian infrastructure and farmers.

Dan Barna has also been re-elected as a vice-president of the Renew Europe parliamentary group. In this capacity, he will continue to coordinate the activities of Renew members across six committees focused on foreign affairs.
