Darius Olaru signs with Union Saint‑Gilloise as FCSB captain departs

Romanian club FCSB confirmed the transfer of captain Darius Olaru to Belgian side Royale Union Saint‑Gilloise. Olaru leaves after 257 official matches, 63 goals and 41 assists, having helped FCSB win two league titles, a Romanian Cup and two Super Cups. The deal is reported to be worth around €3 million, with Olaru signing a contract that runs to June 2030 and earning an annual salary of €800 000, up from €300 000 at FCSB.

Club owner Gigi Becali also approved the possible sale of midfielder Mihai Lixandru, who has received offers from clubs in Kazakhstan and Russia. Becali said he would let Lixandru leave for a fee of roughly €500 000.

In parallel, FCSB is pursuing Israeli forward Shon Weissman. Israeli media suggest that Beitar Jerusalem may still retain the player, complicating the rumored move.

The transfers mark a significant reshuffle for FCSB ahead of the new season, while Olaru’s move to the Belgian league, a regular competitor in European competitions, offers him a higher-profile platform.
