Romanian midfielder Darius Olaru, 28, completed his transfer from FCSB to Royal Union Saint‑Gilloise in the summer of 2026. He made his official debut for the Belgian side on 31 July 2026 in the Belgian Super Cup against defending champions Club Brugge.

The match ended 1‑1 after regular time and was decided by a penalty shoot‑out, which Royal Union SG won, giving Olaru his first trophy in Belgium. He started the game, remained on the pitch until the 71st minute and contributed throughout the encounter.

Following the Super Cup victory, Union SG will face Bodø/Glimt in a UEFA Champions League qualifying round on 4 August and begin their Belgian league campaign against Westerlo on 8 August.
