Romania updates €923M EIB hospital funding deadlines

The Romanian Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Health have proposed a Government Decision to update financing contracts with the European Investment Bank (EIB) for three major regional emergency hospitals in Iași, Cluj, and Craiova.

The update involves extending the completion deadlines and increasing flexibility regarding how funds are drawn. The total EIB loan amount remains unchanged at 923 million euros. The new projected completion dates are as follows:

• Iași Regional Emergency Hospital: December 2029 (previously December 2027) • Cluj Regional Emergency Hospital: December 2029 (previously December 2026) • Craiova Regional Emergency Hospital: May 2029 (previously December 2026)

The Ministry of Finance stated that these modifications do not increase the loan value, create additional budgetary obligations, or change the public debt service. The changes are intended to align with the actual pace of investment implementation and allow for more flexible use of available funds.
