Romanian municipalities invest heavily in school infrastructure
Romanian municipalities of Târgu Mureș and Galati have reported significant financial allocations and completed works for educational infrastructure.
In Târgu Mureș, the administration has allocated nearly 150 million lei for education in 2026. This includes a 130 million lei main budget and over 18 million lei distributed directly to educational units for repairs and acquisitions. Completed projects include the rehabilitation of Romulus Guga Middle School and energy efficiency upgrades at Gheorghe Marinescu High School. Ongoing works continue at several other schools and kindergartens.
In Galati, total investments in educational institutions over recent years have exceeded 625 million lei (approximately 120 million euros). In 2026 alone, works worth roughly 100 million lei were completed across nine institutions, with additional maintenance performed at 42 others. The municipality is currently working on 20 objectives valued at approximately 345 million lei, targeting nurseries, kindergartens, and various levels of schooling.
