Romanian Naval Forces enhance Black Sea security with new sensor shield

Romanian naval authorities are intensifying security measures and response capabilities in the Black Sea following increased regional threats. Vice Admiral Mihai Panait, Chief of the Romanian Naval Forces Staff, has overseen the installation of an advanced sensor surveillance system in the Constanța Military Port. This technological shield is designed to detect aerial drones as well as underwater threats and maritime drones capable of sabotaging military infrastructure.

In addition to new surveillance technology, Romanian naval, civilian, and military authorities are conducting large-scale intervention exercises to test emergency response protocols. These drills involve multiple agencies, including the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of National Defense, the Coast Guard, and ARSVOM. The exercises aim to ensure rapid response to maritime crises, such as ship fires or sinkings caused by drone strikes, which have become a recent reality in the region. Recent reports indicate that Romanian forces have already identified and neutralized nine drifting sea mines and eight maritime attack drones.
