Romanian Naval Forces test new anti-drone systems in Black Sea ports

The Romanian Naval Forces have begun testing advanced defense equipment to protect critical infrastructure in Black Sea and Danube ports against aerial, surface, and underwater threats. In cooperation with the United States Navy, the Black Talon anti-drone system is currently being tested at the Constanța Military Port. This system utilizes 3D radar, electro-optical equipment, and passive electromagnetic emission detection to identify and classify unmanned aerial and surface vehicles within a 10 km radius.

Following the initial deployment in Constanța, three additional Black Talon systems are scheduled to be provided by the U.S. Navy and installed in the military ports of Brăila, Tulcea, and Mangalia. To bolster underwater security, the military will also deploy Sentinel sonar systems. These are designed to detect submerged unmanned systems, combat divers, and mini-submarines, providing early warning and the capability to jam autonomous systems to prevent them from completing missions.
