Romanian opposition parties demand inquiry into luxury travel scandal

The USR and PNL political groups in the Romanian Chamber of Deputies have submitted a new request to establish a parliamentary inquiry commission. The proposed commission, referred to as the ‘Mykonos-Nordis’ inquiry, aims to investigate private flights associated with the Nordis scandal, as well as recent luxury trips to Mykonos and Nice involving politicians, judges, and businesspeople.

Diana Stoica, leader of the USR deputies, has called on the PSD to allow the proposal to be submitted to a vote in the Chamber of Deputies plenary session. USR representatives claim that previous attempts to block the inquiry through the Permanent Bureau violated parliamentary procedures, asserting that the decision to form such a commission must rest with the plenary.

The investigation seeks to clarify the circumstances of these private trips, identify all participants and organizers, and determine who funded the transportation, accommodation, and meals.
