Romanian police raid home of man who threatened a woman on Facebook

A 29‑year‑old man posted multiple videos on Facebook in which he threatened to kill a 29‑year‑old woman and insulted the Romanian Police and Gendarmerie, repeatedly claiming that law‑enforcement "sleeps" on the job. The posts, made in June 2026, were identified by the Criminal Investigation Service of Sector 6, which opened an investigation for the crime of threat.

Police officers from the Capital Police forces watched the online material, then proceeded to the suspect's residence, forced entry through his door, and detained him. He was held for 24 hours and charged with committing the offence of threat. The case underscores that online statements are treated as public actions and can be used as evidence in criminal proceedings.
