Brașov County Man Detained After Domestic Violence Attack in Săcele

On 27 June, a 44‑year‑old man assaulted his 47‑year‑old partner in a public area of Săcele, Brașov County. An eyewitness recorded the attack and forwarded the video to police, who quickly identified both individuals.

Authorities deemed the victim at imminent risk and issued a provisional protection order. The perpetrator was placed in police custody for 24 hours, after which a court ordered a 30‑day preventive detention. He is currently held at the Brașov police detention centre. Romanian law states that a victim’s withdrawal of a complaint does not halt criminal proceedings in domestic‑violence cases.
