Romanian police detain men for severe domestic violence in Argeș and Iași
In Argeș County, police in Costești arrested a man after his 51‑year‑old partner reported a violent assault at their home on 14 July. The victim received medical aid, declined hospital transport, and a five‑day provisional protection order was issued. A criminal case for domestic violence was opened.
In Iași, lawyer Dinu Șerban was sentenced to nine years and two months in prison for brutally beating his former girlfriend in a hotel room on the night of 17 September 2024. The victim escaped to the reception, where staff called emergency services. Investigators documented extensive injuries, and the court ruled the act amounted to attempted homicide. The conviction is subject to appeal.
