Moldova anti‑corruption raids detain senior agriculture official and expose prison money‑raising scheme

The National Anti‑Corruption Center (CNA) in Moldova detained a state secretary from the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry and a representative of a private company. Prosecutors allege the company paid the secretary to influence officials at the National Agency for Food Safety so that a suspended permit for importing bird and animal feed from Ukraine could be reinstated.

Separately, prison administration staff in the Bălți and Soroca facilities uncovered an illegal scheme that collected money to fund criminal organisations both inside and outside prisons. The operation led to the arrest of four individuals suspected of running the scheme.

Both investigations are ongoing, with authorities continuing to gather evidence and identify all participants involved in the alleged corruption and organised‑crime activities.
