Romanian police bust photovoltaic cable theft and multiple local robberies
Police from the Dâmbovița County Inspectorate carried out nine home searches in Răcari and surrounding communes, targeting suspects accused of stealing electrical cables from photovoltaic parks in Dâmbovița, Ilfov and Giurgiu. The operation involved special forces from Dâmbovița, Prahova and Argeș, as well as local gendarmes.
In other parts of the country, law‑enforcement agencies reported a series of thefts and robberies: a 31‑year‑old man was detained in Sânandrei, Timiș, for stealing an electric scooter and a bicycle, causing a loss of about 4,300 lei. In Bistrița, three individuals – two youths aged 19 and 22 and a 34‑year‑old man – were arrested after assaulting a 17‑year‑old and taking 520 lei and a mobile phone. Suceava police recovered PlayStation 5 consoles and accessories after thieves attempted to return stolen goods, leading to the arrest of two suspects. In Pitești, a 26‑year‑old was caught stealing a tablet from a passenger’s luggage at the railway station, with the device later recovered. Officers in Satu Mare identified three suspects who had taken a large quantity of vegetables from a farm, retrieving the stolen produce. Finally, a 44‑year‑old man from Copșa Mare was detained for violating a protection order and threatening his wife.
