Romanian politicians call for increased civic and youth engagement
Romanian political figures have highlighted the importance of civic engagement and the role of the younger generation in shaping the country's future. During the ‘Generația de Mâine’ (Tomorrow's Generation) event held at the Romanian Senate, organized by the Free Students League, over 100 students and pupils participated to discuss solutions for the future.
Senator Mihai Coteț praised the energy of the participants, stating that the youth are actively seeking to build modern institutions rather than remaining passive spectators. He emphasized that the voices of young people should serve as a permanent anchor for political decision-makers.
In a separate critique of the country's post-communist evolution, Deputy Andrei Csillag addressed the gap between the democratic aspirations of the 1989 Revolution and current political realities. Csillag criticized systemic issues such as public fund waste, clientelism, and high taxation. He specifically called for increased voter turnout, arguing that political absenteeism favors the existing system rather than penalizing it.
