Romanian PSD sues interim Bolojan government over biodiversity strategy

The Social Democratic Party (PSD) announced it will contest several decisions adopted by the interim government headed by Ilie Bolojan, calling them unconstitutional. Among the contested measures is the National Biodiversity Conservation Strategy 2026‑2030, a milestone of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) valued at €972.4 million, which PSD says exceeds the limited mandate of a demitted cabinet.

PSD said it will file complaints with the General Prosecutor’s Office and request the Bucharest Court of Appeal to suspend execution of the decisions. Party leader Sorin Grindeanu warned that criminal complaints could be lodged if legal violations are confirmed. The party argues the strategy directly affects highway construction, the Black Sea gas project Neptun Deep and new hydro‑electric plants, and therefore must be approved by Parliament rather than by an interim executive.
