Romanian railway disruptions delay Oradea-Mangalia and Mizil trains

A defective passenger wagon forced the summer IRN 1922 train on the Oradea–Mangalia route to stop near Bretea Streiului. The wagon was removed, passengers were redistributed to other cars and the train departed from Petroșani 117 minutes late, carrying about 200 travelers.

Separately, a Transelectrica power cable snapped and fell onto the CFR contact line between Mizil and Ulmeni, igniting vegetation and a transformer. The incident halted the IR 1661 service from Bucharest Nord to Iași at Mizil, with crews working to restore power and clear the line. CFR Călători supplied water and snacks to affected passengers on the delayed Oradea‑Mangalia train and dispatched a diesel locomotive to assist the Mizil blockage.

Both incidents highlight operational challenges for Romania’s rail network and the response measures taken by CFR Călători to mitigate passenger inconvenience.
