Timișoara Airport to suspend operations for runway repairs

Timișoara Traian Vuia International Airport will completely suspend all take-offs and landings from November 2, 2026, at 08:00, until November 22, 2026, at 21:00. The closure is necessary to perform essential runway repairs and infrastructure maintenance to ensure long-term operational safety.

To maintain regional connectivity, several airlines are relocating operations. Wizz Air will temporarily operate its flights to and from Timișoara via Arad International Airport. Other carriers, including Tarom and HiSky, have also confirmed they will utilize Arad during the maintenance period. However, Lufthansa and Turkish Airlines have opted to suspend their Timișoara flights during the three-week closure.

Approximately 40 ground handling staff and technical equipment from Timișoara will be temporarily deployed to Arad to manage the increased passenger and baggage traffic. Arad expects to handle between 40 and 50 flights per week during this period, with an estimated 80,000 passengers passing through the facility.
