Romanian retailers highlight local food producers and supply chains

Retailers in Romania are highlighting the scale and technological advancement of local food producers. Kaufland Romania has launched a new digital project titled ‘Raul bate câmpii’ in collaboration with comedian Raul Gheba. The five-episode documentary-style series aims to showcase local producers by visiting farms, orchards, and production units to discuss quality standards and the challenges of bringing products to supermarket shelves.

In a similar vein of examining local supply chains, Avicarvil—part of the Carmistin The Food Company group—serves as a major supplier for Lidl under the ‘La Provincia’ brand and Lidl’s private labels. The company operates highly organized facilities in Vâlcea County, producing organic eggs and poultry meat. These production sites utilize significant technological investments to maintain high standards, bridging the gap between corporate management and large-scale agricultural production.
