Romanian rowers win three gold medals at World Championships

Romanian rowers achieved historic success at the World Rowing Championships in Amsterdam, securing three gold medals. Simona Radiș and Adriana Adam made history as the first athletes to win three gold medals at a single edition of the World Rowing Championships.

The gold medals were earned in the women’s double sculls, the women’s 8+1, and the mixed 8+1 events. The women’s 8+1 crew, which included Radiș, Adam, Cristina Drugă, Geanina Juncanariu, Ancuța Bodnar, Maria Lehaci, Magdalena Rusu, Amalia Chelaru, and coxswain Victoria Petreanu, set a new world record with a time of 5:51.88.

Romania finished the championships in fourth place in the overall medal standings, following the Netherlands, Germany, and the United States. Elisabeta Lipă, President of the Romanian Rowing Federation, praised the team's determination and leadership.
