Romanian school robotics teams clinch top prizes at international contests in Canada and Mexico

The ViCyber robotics team from the Tudor Vianu National College of Computer Science in Bucharest won the Canadian Rockies Premier Event KDays at the Edmonton Expo Centre, Canada, from 24‑26 July 2026. Competing against 48 teams from 14 countries, ViCyber finished first in all qualifying matches and earned the highest technical scores, highlighting its hardware, Java software and marketing work.

In a separate competition, the CyberPunk Robotics team of 11 students from the Mihai Viteazul National College in Turda secured the Inspire Award – the highest honour – at the First Tech Challenge event in Mexico. The team, supported by 39 members and coordinated by professor Roland Balint, qualified for the world finals and returned to Cluj‑Napoca amid emotional celebrations.

Both achievements showcase Romania’s growing expertise in student robotics, emphasizing technical skill, teamwork and community impact across international stages.
