Romanian schoolchildren’s bus robbed in Nice, France, losing luggage and IDs

About 60 students from Satu Mare County, Romania, were travelling by coach to the Taizé community in France when the vehicle was left unattended near an abandoned factory in Nice. At around 21:00 on 25 July, thieves broke into the bus, stealing backpacks, personal documents, cash, mobile phones and other belongings.

Parents complained that the driver had instructed the children to keep their bags in the upper compartments and that the coach was not properly monitored, exposing it to the burglary. The group filed reports with French police, who opened an investigation to identify the perpetrators and recover the stolen items. The transport company has not yet issued a statement.

The incident has raised concerns over safety protocols for school trips abroad and prompted calls for accountability from the transport provider.
