Carolina Pungă wins silver in 200 m at European U18 Championships
Romanian sprinter Carolina‑Andreea Pungă, aged 15, claimed the silver medal in the women's 200 m at the European Under‑18 Athletics Championships in Rieti, Italy, finishing in 23.58 seconds – a personal best and just 0.01 s behind Spain’s Mariona Armero. The day before, Pungă placed fifth in the 100 m final with a time of 11.61 seconds. Her performances contributed to a strong Romanian showing, with the nation fielding 20 athletes across track and field events. The championships also saw fellow Romanians reach finals in triple jump, 400 m hurdles and other disciplines, underscoring the depth of the country's junior sprinting talent.
