Romanian students earn perfect Bacalaureat scores after appeals
The Romanian Ministry of Education released final Bacalaureat results, noting that the promotion rate rose from 74.8% to 76.9% after more than 20,000 grade appeals, with scores changed in nearly 97% of cases. In Arad County, Antonia Mara Stănescu, a rhythmic gymnastics athlete, originally received 7.50 in Romanian language; after contestation her mark was raised to 9.80, giving her a perfect 10 average – the only student in the county to achieve this. Nationally, 70 students obtained a 10 average.
In Galați County, Lorena Irimia, a graduate of Costache Negri National College, initially scored 8.85 in Romanian and 9.35 in History. Following appeals, both subjects were upgraded to 10, resulting in a 10 average and making her the third student in the county with the top mark. She is now enrolled at the Catholic University in Milan.
