Romanian theaters announce new stage productions and tours

Several theatrical productions are set to premiere or tour across Romania. The Anton Pann Theater is presenting a new play written by local journalist and writer Gheorghe Smeoreanu. Directed by Mateea Marin, the production blends contemporary themes with Commedia dell’Arte elements, using masks and physical performance to explore identity and the distinction between public image and private truth.

Additionally, the comedy ‘Quartet’ by Oscar-winning screenwriter Ronald Harwood is touring several cities. Featuring Maia Morgenstern and Carmen Tănase, the play follows four former opera stars living in a retirement home who reunite to perform a final concert. Performances are scheduled for November in Piatra-Neamț, Constanța, and Pitești, with a Bucharest premiere at the National Theatre (TNB) on November 23.
