Romanian tourists increase visits to Bulgaria's Black Sea coast

Romanian visitors to Bulgaria's Black Sea resorts reached a record close to 1 million registrations in 2025, according to the National Statistical Institute. That figure marks an 8.5% rise over 2024 and a 10‑12% increase compared with the previous year, reflecting the growing importance of the Romanian market for Bulgarian seaside tourism.

Analysts note that while geographic proximity, transport links and a wide range of accommodation options keep demand high, inflation in Romania is prompting travellers to plan more carefully, compare offers and book later. Families with children remain the dominant segment, but there is a noticeable growth in couples looking for spa, wellness, premium all‑inclusive and conference packages. In response, hotels along the northern coast are hiring Romanian‑speaking staff and tailoring services and promotions to the preferences of their northern neighbours.
