Romanian travelers face rising vacation costs at home and abroad

A Romanian TikTok user reported that a two‑day weekend on the Black Sea coast cost about 2,100 lei for three adults and a child, with transport (≈500 lei), accommodation (≈600 lei) and meals (≈600 lei) making up the bulk of the bill. He noted, “Am fost la mare două zile, trei adulţi şi un copil… costul total a ajuns la aproximativ 2 100 de lei.”

At the same time, data from travel platform Travel Planner show that Romanians spending on foreign holidays remain high despite price pressure. The average cost per person for an overseas trip is around €1,200, and families booking all‑inclusive stays in Bulgaria typically pay €1,100‑€1,300 for a five‑to‑six‑night stay. The average Bulgarian vacation length has fallen to 5.2 nights, down from 5.8 nights in previous years, as travelers seek stronger discounts.

Tourism analysts also note a growing demand for pet‑friendly accommodation in Romania. About 25 % of listings on major booking platforms now accept animals, reflecting the fact that more than half of Romanians own a pet and consider them part of the family when planning holidays.
