Romanian towns host inclusive wheelchair basketball event and Serbia‑Romania summer camp

On 23 July 2026 the Sala Transilvania in Sibiu held the second edition of “Ziua Prieteniei – Sport fără bariere”. Organized by Asociația Copil Unicat with Club Sportiv Comunitar Sibiu, the event showcased wheelchair basketball, featuring the team Zburătorii and promoting the Able Body Players program that invites people without disabilities to try the sport. Organizer Ana‑Maria Dinu said, “We want participants to leave with a different perspective on inclusion.”

Two days earlier, on 20 July 2026, Pitești concluded its International Summer Camp with Kragujevac, a tradition spanning more than 45 years. Mayor Cristian Gentea welcomed 23 students from Kragujevac, Serbia, and highlighted the camp’s role in cultural exchange and friendship. The city hall’s statement thanked the participants for representing their communities with honour.

Both events illustrate local efforts in Romania to foster inclusion, sport, and cross‑border youth interaction.
