Romanian trade unions accuse government of weakening public administration
The National Federation of Trade Unions in Administration (FNSA) has issued an open letter to the Romanian government, accusing political leaders of weakening public administration at a critical time. The federation claims that recent policies have treated public sector employees as a mere “expense” rather than a vital component of the state's capacity.
According to the FNSA, the government has reduced personnel, diminished income, and transferred responsibilities without providing necessary funding or staff. The union also criticized officials for using public sector salaries and rights as a scapegoat for potential sovereign credit rating downgrades. The federation argues that these unconsulted reforms have undermined the stability of public service and left employees vulnerable to political interests.
