Romanian traffic authority alerts drivers to fog, rain and heavy holiday congestion

The Romanian National Police traffic unit INFOTRAFIC warned that reduced visibility due to dense fog is affecting roads in six counties—Harghita, Bacău, Suceava, Neamț, Iași and Vaslui—where visibility can drop below 200 m and in some spots below 50 m. At the same time, precipitation has made the surface of major highways A1, A2, A3, A7, DN1 and DN7 wet, though visibility remains adequate on these stretches.

INFOTRAFIC also reported intense traffic on Sunday afternoon as motorists return from holiday trips. Congestion is reported on DN1 between Brașov and Ploiești, on the A2 (Constanța–Bucharest) near Valu lui Traian and between Cernavodă and Fetești, on DN39 in Eforie Nord, and on DN7 near Pitești and Sibiu. Drivers are urged to lower speed, keep increased following distances, use fog lights where needed, avoid using the emergency lane, and consider alternative routes such as A3, A1, DN2A, DN3A or other secondary roads.
