Romanian villages face water supply interruptions and shortages

On 17 July 2026, Apă Canal 2000 SA announced a planned 15‑hour suspension of tap water for the villages of Lăngești, Silișteni and Bumbuieni in Lunca Corbului commune, Argeș County, to clean storage reservoirs using Air‑Power technology. Residents were urged to store enough water for household use during the interruption.

In the village of Teascu din Deal, Argetoaia commune, Dolj County, locals continue to struggle with a chronic lack of potable water. With no public taps and the nearest shop four kilometres away, families travel long distances or rely on bottled water supplied weekly by the mayor to vulnerable residents. The municipal well provides water only for non‑drinking purposes. Authorities say they are seeking long‑term investments to resolve the shortage. Local voices echo the hardship: “Bătrânii așa au trăit, așa trăim și noi” and “E cam greu, dar asta e, ce să facem?”
