Romanian youth awareness of French military presence
A survey conducted by INSCOP Research, requested by the French Embassy, reveals that 50.4% of Romanian youth aged 18 to 30 were unaware of the presence of French military personnel in Romania. While only 9.6% of respondents reported being well-informed on the subject, 39.3% indicated they had heard of the presence but possessed limited information.
Despite the low level of specific awareness, the majority of young respondents view France as a reliable security partner. Approximately 80.2% consider France a NATO ally that Romania can depend on in the event of a threat. Furthermore, 64.7% believe the French military presence contributes significantly to the country's security.
When asked about areas where France maintains an important presence in Romania, respondents prioritized culture (32.8%), followed by economy and investments (26.6%), education and research (24.1%), security and defense (23.5%), and diplomacy (22.5%).
The French Ambassador to Romania, Nicolas Warnery, stated that the survey results will assist the diplomatic mission in adapting its communication strategies to better explain daily defense activities conducted within the country.
