The speculation, cited by the Romanian daily Adevărul, mentioned commercial initiatives such as the Galaţi‑Odesa trade route and navigation rights for Ukraine on the Danube, but did not revive the territorial dispute over Basarabia.

Meanwhile, the Romanian press highlighted local debates in Chișinău over street names, urging inclusion of historic figures beyond those linked to the 1918 Union. A reporter from Bucharest described the poor conditions in the city’s marginal districts, noting lack of water, electricity and chronic mud, and reported residents' complaints to municipal authorities.
