The Ministry of Education announced that the second (autumn) session of the national Bacalaureat exam starts on Monday, 3 August 2026. More than 33 000 high‑school graduates have registered, including over 5 500 for the oral Romanian language test, about 200 for the minority‑language oral test, roughly 5 800 for the international‑language oral test and another 5 500 for the digital competence test.

The competence assessments run from 3 to 7 August, after which written exams are held from 10 to 13 August (Romanian language and literature, mandatory profile, optional profile, and minority‑language literature). Preliminary results will be posted on 18 August, with final results after appeals on 24 August. Candidates must pass all competence tests, obtain at least a grade 5 on each written paper and an overall average of 6 to receive the diploma.
