Romania's 2026 school admission and teacher exams report low non‑placements and mixed pass rates

The Ministry of Education published the results of the first computerized allocation for the 2026 high‑school admission on 22 July. Only 126 out of 119,484 candidates (0.11 %) remained unreassigned, the smallest number in seven years. Eight students achieved a perfect 10 average on the National Evaluation, prompting a government proposal to award 2,000 lei to gymnasium graduates and 5,000 lei to high‑school graduates with a 10 average.

Teacher titularisation exams were held on 21 July across Romania. More than 41,600 candidates registered, with regional pass rates varying widely: Satu Mare reported a 65.36 % promotion rate, Harghita just over 60 %, Cluj recorded 78 %, while Constanța offered 2366 positions for 1254 applicants. Results for the written tests will be published on 28 July, and final allocations are scheduled for early August.

These examinations affect tens of thousands of students and teachers, influencing school placement, career advancement, and potential financial incentives for high‑achieving pupils.
