Romania's Banat and Iași regions report major private firm ownership and construction profit trends

A regional study of private companies with turnover above 100 million lei in the Banat counties (Timiș, Arad and Caraș‑Severin) identified 223 firms. Timiș alone accounts for 62.8% of them, and a large share are owned directly by individuals – 39 firms in Timiș, 30 in Arad and most of the ten companies in Caraș‑Severin. The analysis notes that while personal ownership is not a legal vulnerability, it raises questions about capital reinvestment, asset protection, succession and the ability to attract investors. Adrian Gociu, Managing Partner of Gociu Lawyers, warned: “When a company exceeds 100 million lei in revenue, the issue is no longer who holds the shares but whether the structure allows reinvestment, asset protection and continuity.”

In Iași, the top ten construction firms posted combined revenue close to 2 billion lei in 2025, a 48% increase over the previous year, while profits rose three‑fold to over 180 million lei. The leading companies – Conest SA, Daroconstruct and Build Corp – together generated more than half of the total turnover. Despite higher earnings, the sector employed slightly fewer workers, indicating a shift toward higher productivity and consolidation, with several firms preparing for major transactions or expansion in 2026.
