Romania's basketball scene sees club qualification and national team disappointment

CSU Pitești secured a place in the final tournament of the National 3×3 Basketball League after finishing third in the fourth round of the championship in Bucharest. In the senior national team competition, Romania suffered a narrow 65‑64 defeat to Montenegro, ending its hopes of qualifying for the 2027 World Cup. The loss came after a recent victory over Greece, and coach Mihai Silvășan praised his players' effort despite the setback. Key contributors for Romania included Daron Russell (17 points) and Emanuel Cățe (15 points). Montenegro finished atop the group, securing progression.
