Romania's CNAS launches electronic health portal and lifts test caps
The National Health Insurance House (CNAS) has published a reform package that includes the new "E‑Sănătatea Mea" portal. The platform will let insured patients access their medical records, electronic prescriptions, test results and schedule appointments online, a step described by Dr. Ovidiu Butuc, director of the Mureș County Health Insurance House, as a major modernization of the health‑insurance system.
CNAS also plans to eliminate the monthly caps on reimbursed medical analyses. President Horațiu Moldovan explained that unused funds at the end of each month will be redistributed, allowing patients to obtain tests throughout the month. The reform will tighten prescribing rules for about 100 basic analyses to ensure they are ordered only when medically necessary.
