Romania's Finance Ministry launches seventh Fidelis bond edition with up to 7.55% tax‑free yield
The Romanian Ministry of Finance opened the seventh edition of its Fidelis program, running from 3 to 10 July 2026. The scheme lets residents and non‑residents aged 18+ buy government bonds denominated in lei or euro through a consortium of banks, with the securities to be listed on the Bucharest Stock Exchange.
Leu‑denominated bonds offer tax‑free coupons of 6.30% (2‑year), 6.85% (4‑year) and 7.55% (10‑year). Euro‑denominated issues carry coupons of 3.90% (3‑year), 4.80% (5‑year) and 6.20% (10‑year). No intermediary fees are charged and the interest earned is exempt from tax. Minister of Finance Alexandru Nazare said the programme demonstrates strong public confidence, noting that almost 70 billion lei have been invested in less than six years across 37 offerings since August 2020. In 2026 alone, subscriptions exceeded 7.7 billion lei.
