Romania's industrial sector leads profitability in 2026 ranking

The industrial sector remains the most profitable field in Romania's National Ranking of Companies (TNF) 2026. According to the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania (CCIR), industrial companies held all top 10 positions, generating a combined operating profit of EUR 9.58 billion, which accounts for 36.12% of the total profit among 12,943 ranked companies.

Industrial turnover increased by 5.88% to EUR 99.76 billion. The sector's operating profit rate stood at 9.60%, exceeding the overall average of 8.86%. Industry also represents the largest share of companies in the ranking at 34.39%, followed by services at 28.77%.

Separately, the Concordia Employers' Confederation is advocating for the removal of the minimum turnover tax (IMCA) by January 1, 2027. Concordia estimates that eliminating this tax would leave approximately 1.75 to 2 billion lei in the hands of companies to support investment and economic activity.
