Romania's Northwest Region Attracts Majority of European Tourists

Official statistics show that the north‑west region of Romania received the bulk of tourist overnight stays in the latest reporting period. Bihor accounted for 39.3% of all stays, followed by Cluj with 33.2%, while Maramureș also featured among the top destinations.

Foreign visitors represented 14.2% of total guests, and of those, 83.3% came from European countries. More than 300,000 foreign tourists visited Cluj, making it the most visited county by international guests, with Bihor and Maramureș also drawing significant numbers.
