Romania's Solar Growth Boosted by 58 MW Iratoșu EPC Deal and Iași 9.8 MW Park

Ameresco Sunel Energy, a joint venture between US‑based Ameresco and Greece’s Sunel Group, secured an integrated engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for the 58 MW Iratoșu solar power plant in Arad County, Romania. The project, developed by UK‑based TDI Renewables, includes detailed engineering, equipment procurement, construction, a 33/110 kV substation, an underground cable system and long‑term operation and maintenance. Expected annual generation is about 72–84 GWh, with an estimated investment of €35‑50 million.

Electro‑Alfa International, a Romanian electrical‑equipment manufacturer, began construction of the 9.8 MW CET 2 Holboca solar park in Iași, converting a former coal depot. The RON 34.6 million project will install over 13,000 photovoltaic panels, inverters, transformer stations and grid‑connection infrastructure, delivering an estimated 9,849 MWh of electricity each year. Electro‑Alfa, listed on the Bucharest Stock Exchange, now has a market capitalisation exceeding RON 3 billion.
