Romanian ANAF uncovers 26 million‑lei tax fraud tied to online MMA streaming

Inspectors from the Directorate General for Antifraud (DGAF) of Romania's National Agency for Fiscal Administration (ANAF) discovered that a company organising and streaming mixed‑martial‑arts (MMA) tournaments online failed to declare its revenues, creating a tax loss of 26.36 million lei for the state.

The firm sold monthly subscriptions, access codes and view‑IDs to an average of more than 30,000 paying subscribers, but kept the income off its books. investigators also identified a second scheme: the company, part of a group of three firms controlled by the same associates, earned undeclared money by directing the MMA audience to online betting and casino platforms.

ANAF announced it will refer the case to the competent criminal authorities and said that inspections of revenues from online multimedia distribution will continue to ensure a fair business environment and protect compliant taxpayers.
