Romania‑Ukraine Interreg NEXT funds digital public services in Baia Mare

The Interreg NEXT Romania‑Ukraine programme (2021‑2027) is financing cross‑border projects that aim to improve infrastructure, health, culture and digital administration. Among the highlighted initiatives, the municipality of Baia Mare in Romania, together with the local councils of Solotvyno and Polyanytsya in Ukraine, launched the “Digital City Hall – services closer to citizens” project.

The project receives €801,207 total funding, of which €721,086 (90 %) comes from the EU’s Interreg fund and the remaining 10 % is provided by the partners. It is scheduled to run for one year, ending 8 June 2027, and will digitise local public services, shorten processing times, improve communication with residents and enhance data security. The broader programme also supports modern hospitals, cultural‑heritage preservation and educational partnerships across the Romanian‑Ukrainian border.
