Romano Schmid transfers from Werder Bremen to Frosinone Calcio
Werder Bremen has officially confirmed the transfer of Austrian midfielder Romano Schmid to the Italian Serie A side Frosinone Calcio. The deal includes a guaranteed transfer fee of approximately €8.5 million, with potential bonuses that could increase the total package to roughly €10.5 million.
Schmid leaves the Bundesliga club after seven years, during which he made 192 competitive appearances, scoring 18 goals and providing 35 assists. He joined Werder Bremen from RB Salzburg in 2019 and became a central figure in the squad, contributing to their promotion back to the Bundesliga and representing Austria at the European Championship and World Cup.
Werder Bremen's sporting director, Clemens Fritz, stated that the move meets both the club's economic interests and the player's personal desires. The transfer is part of a broader squad restructuring for the German club as they look to generate revenue.
