Romantic Warrior retires from racing due to injury

The Hong Kong Jockey Club has announced the retirement of the world-class champion racehorse Romantic Warrior. The decision follows detailed diagnostic imaging and veterinary assessments that revealed changes in the eight-year-old horse's front leg.

Romantic Warrior concludes a historic career with 15 Group 1 victories and total earnings exceeding HK$288.74 million, setting a global record for prize money. The champion achieved success across Hong Kong, Australia, Japan, and the United Arab Emirates, notably winning the 2023 Cox Plate in Australia.

The horse will spend the next three months at Conghua Racecourse under close veterinary supervision before transitioning to a retirement home through the Club’s RESTART Racehorse Aftercare Programme. A formal farewell ceremony will be held during a Sha Tin Raceday later this season.
