Romario Caicedo Sets July 24 Deadline in Emelec Contract Dispute

Romario Caicedo, the Ecuadorian right‑back of Club Sport Emelec, announced he has formally requested payment from the club and gave the management a deadline of 24 July to resolve the matter. He said he has not filed a lawsuit yet but expects a settlement before that date.

Caicedo claims the club edited his contract and failed to honor a salary reduction he accepted in September 2025, leaving several years of wages unpaid. He warned that if an agreement is not reached he will become a free agent and will pursue legal action to recover the amounts owed. The player emphasized that his grievance is with the current administrators, not the club itself, and expressed a desire to avoid any negative impact on the team’s performance.
