Rome: 75-year-old arrested for alleged sexual abuse of a minor

A 75-year-old Cuban national has been arrested in Santa Palomba, Rome, following allegations of sexual abuse against a minor. The arrest occurred after a mother, of South American origin, discovered the abuse and alerted neighbors by screaming, which prompted a call to emergency services.

Investigators report that the woman and her daughters had been living in the man's home for a few weeks under an occasional relationship. The victim informed her mother that the abuse had been repeated over several days. During the incident, the suspect reportedly attempted to prevent the mother from seeking help by detaining her in the house.

State Police officers from the Tor Carbone district intervened, securing the women and transporting the minor to a hospital for medical examination. Further checks revealed that the suspect was already subject to an expulsion order due to irregular residency status in Italy. A judge has validated the arrest, ordering the suspect to be held in custody at Rebibbia prison.
